School History

The school started in 1958 by a group of parents who sent their children to Welsh lessons in London every Saturday morning. After much discussion and many challenges, and with thirty eager children, Ysgol Gymraeg London was opened. The school has been in Paddington, Camden Town, Willesden Green and Stonebridge Park and it was an honour to welcome the Right. Hon. Carwyn Jones MP to the school in December 2015 to celebrate the official opening of the school in its current location in Hanwell Community Centre, Ealing. 60 years later, the school is still thriving and we celebrated this milestone with a concert, service and, of course, a big party for the pupils, staff and parents. Forward now to the 70th. Read the interesting, 'A Fynn a Fedr,' (the school's motto: ‘Whoever persists, achieves’), which was published as part of our 60th year celebrations, outlining the wonderful history of the school from the beginning until today.
