Headteacher’s Welcome The London Welsh School is a small and friendly school based in Hanwell, in the borough of Ealing, West London. We teach through the medium of Welsh and English with our pupils becoming fully bilingual by year 6. Being bilingual makes it easier to acquire a 3rd or 4th language. We are an independent school, proud of our unique history; we are also a reflective school, evolving to meet the needs of the future. Through self-evaluation - the staff, Board of Directors, parents and supporters of the school all share the goal of maintaining high educational standards. We are proud of the achievements of our pupils, whether academic, cultural or personal. By participating in community events in Hanwell and beyond, there is a sense of belonging to a Welsh speaking and wider Welsh community, whether in London or Wales. Working together with a range of partners, we deliver the new Curriculum for Wales in a nurturing, encouraging, safe environment. We hope you enjoy your journey through our website. Welcome from the Board, The London Welsh School offers so many opportunities for children. I know this as a parent and now as a governor. It is a wonderfully happy school where children thrive in whichever area they excel or are interested in. This is an excellent beginning for your child’s education - they receive much individual attention with teaching tailored to their needs. The children are happy and safe with our experienced and caring staff. We see the children growing in confidence by taking part in concerts and the Urdd Eisteddfod and, of course, they have the best of both worlds, - a homely Welsh school within bustling London and all that the city has to offer. A top hat to it all is the visit to the Urdd Centre in Llangrannog at the end of the summer term. This is a visit for the whole family and so much fun for all. Come and visit to see for yourself. With best wishes Glenys Roberts Chair of Governors

Welcome from the Parents, Teachers and

Friends Association (PTFA)

The PTFA offers everyone the opportunity to come together socially and to create a supportive community. We also organise fundraising activities to help with the running costs of the school. These events can be a lot of fun and a way for parents to be part of the school community. A very warm welcome is extended to new parents. Examples of our events are: Hanwell Carnival, Light up the Lane, Open Days, annual BBQ and much more. Ask the school for details. A very warm welcome is extended to new parents. New parents - don't be shy - join in the fun in this friendly and social group, the PFTA! And, if you have ideas for events or have talents you'd like to share, get in touch straight away! How does CRAFF raise money?
